Lake Hartwell State Recreation Area is a park focused on fishing. In addition to lake access, there is a park store, hiking, camping and unique, affordable one-room camper cabins. They feature bunk beds, a porch and electricity but no running water or bathrooms. The campground facilities are nearby. |

Wildwater's cottages are a convenient place to stay when you visit theChattooga. Nestled on the edge of the woods, overlooking the Wildwater pond and steps away from the Chattooga Rafting Center, our recently renovated and redecorated cottages sleep four and have a full kitchen. They feature a double futon downstairs and loft with a set of twin beds, satellite TV with DVD player, a spacious deck, linens and towels, and a waterfall shower. They are decorated in French Country style with colorful fabrics, art and accessories. Charcoal grills and a gazebo provide outdoor enjoyment and relaxation during your visit. The historic park rests deep in the Blue Ridge foothills, with several hiking trails, cabins and campgrounds that have welcomed families since the days the park was first built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. The park?s fishing lakes offer bass and bream and the woods are full of wildlife, fur and feather alike. It also serves as the southern trailhead for the Foothills Trail, a 78 mile wilderness hike on Blue Ridge Escarpment up to Table Rock. Adjacent to Sumter National Forest, the park also serves as a jumping off point to the nearby Chattooga and Chauga rivers, hotspots for whitewater rafting and trout fishing.
